SLLS International Conference: Qualitative and Quantitative Longitudinal Research on Social Change and its Impacts

Jul 09

Aims of the society

To promote interdisciplinary and inter-study understanding and collaboration in longitudinal and life course research, and provide a forum for discussion and publication of new ideas about all aspects of this topic.

To promote new thinking about making measurements comparable across studies and across time, while addressing the ethical and data protection questions that may arise in their use.

To promote how best to exploit the potential scientific and policy value of comparing findings within and across societies.

Conference Information

Although the overall conference theme will focus on qualitative and quantitative longitudinal research on social change and its impacts, conference submissions from many areas of longitudinal and life course studies will be covered: physical, psychological, social developmental and ageing processes and functioning within and across life course stages from infancy to old age; methods and findings of cohort studies; other sources of longitudinal data such as panel studies and record linkage;  international comparisons; household, and income dynamics; gene-environment interactions; ‘mixed’, and comparative methods; innovative methodology in design, measurement, data management, analysis and research practice (quantitative and qualitative).
