Assistant Professor of Sociology
Cornell’s Center for the Study of Inequality (CSI) and Department of Sociology invite applications for a full-time, tenure track position at the rank of assistant professor. The position will begin July 1, 2020.
The successful candidate will be appointed in the Department of Sociology, which will serve as the candidate’s tenure home and set teaching expectations. He or she will also be expected to participate in and contribute to the rich intellectual life and vibrant community of inequality scholars affiliated with CSI.
We seek scholars who have demonstrated excellence in research and teaching. Candidates may focus on any area of inequality, broadly defined, and use any method. We also encourage applications from scholars who combine inequality with a cognate subfield (e.g., computational sociology, political sociology, race and ethnicity, theory). Candidates must have a PhD by the time the appointment begins.
Interested candidates should submit a letter of application, curriculum vitae, up to three writing samples, a Statement of Contribution to Diversity, teaching evaluations and materials if they are available, and the names of three references. We will begin to review applications on September 16th and continue until the search is complete.
