FutuRes – Towards a Resilient Future of Europe

How will labour markets respond to demographic change? Which policies will benefit the resilience of Europe's families and local communities? How can pension systems be maintained?

The EU-funded FutuRes project (2023-2026) created science-informed scenarios of a resilient Europe: data-based hypotheses of future developments, which will prepare the policymaker for challenges most likely to arise in demographic change.

Alongside its research, Futures developed the FutuRes Policy Lab, where its scientists will engaged with policy, civil society and the public. This will was achieved through a series of larger and smaller events across all three years. The Policy Lab is continued by Population Europe.

Our transdisciplinary team is made up of demographers, economists and other social scientists. Together they push the boundaries of "crisis preparedness": with innovative data models and scenario building.

“FutuRes: Towards a Resilient Future of Europe” was funded by the European Union's Horizon Europe Research and Innovation programme. It was directed by Prof. Arnstein Aassve of Bocconi University in Milan, one of Europe’s leading experts on crisis resilience.
