We are happy to announce that two researchers within the Population Europe Network have received ERC Consolidator Grants! Through this programme, the ERC supports excellent research and allows researchers to pursue original and groundbreaking research ideas.

Professor WSR Annette Baudisch

Professor WSR Annette Baudisch works with basic research in the field of demography and mortality at the University of Southern Denmark, and the very methods that she and her colleagues use to investigate and predict mortality, she will now try to apply to fertility data.

She has just received a prestigious grant – a so-called ERC Consolidator Grant – of DKK 14.8 million (EUR 2 million) from the European Research Council (ERC) for her project "Born once – Die once"

Dr. Sergi Vidal

Dr. Sergi Vidal is  a social demographer (PhD), currently appointed at the Centre for Demographic Studies in the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona as a Ramón y Cajal research fellow, where I act as a head of the Generations and Life Course research group.

He will use the grant to study spatial mobility from early life into adulthood through the LIFELONGMOVE ERC Project. The project is the first of its kind to comprehensively and systematically examine spatial mobility over a lifetime, from early age into adulthood. It brings together and integrates bodies of research that study spatial mobility in childhood and in adulthood separately, and provides new insight on the pathways, resources, and strategies that underlie lifetime mobility.
