The Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research (MPIDR) in Rostock is one of the world's leading centers for population science. The institute is strongly committed to training and promoting junior scientists. Together with eleven institutional partners in Europe and overseas, the MPIDR runs the International Max Planck Research School for Population, Health and Data Science (IMPRS-PHDS), a doctoral program that combines demography, epidemiology and data science. MPIDR is looking for a
Coordinator for IMPRS-PHDS (m/f/d)
in full-time or part-time to start as soon as possible. The position is initially limited to two years, with the intention of offering permanent employment thereafter.
Your tasks:
- Coordination of the Research School and the IMPRS Office
- Organization of the IMPRS curriculum, including planning and organizing workshops, courses, and advanced training activities
- Application management
- Advising and supporting IMPRS-PHDS doctoral students
- Coordinating cooperation and networking with IMPRS-PHDS's national and international partners
- Alumni administration
- Creation and analysis of evaluations
- Scientific reporting
What you should bring:
- Successfully completed university degree, preferably in a field related to the social sciences or humanities; a doctorate is desirable.
- Excellent communication skills and intercultural competence
- Experience in science management, ideally in the field of graduate education
- An interest in doctoral-level education in demography and related field
- A committed and independent working style, ability to work in a team, organizational skills, and a high level of motivation
- Excellent written and spoken English language skills
- Proficiency in German is desirable
