"What do families need in the Corona pandemic?" is the question posed by the Scientific Advisory Board for Family Issues at the BMFSFJ and the Ravensburger Verlag Foundation on 24 February in a joint panel discussion. Among others, Federal Minister for Family Affairs Anne Spiegel and BiB Director Prof. C. Katharina Spieß will participate in the discussion.

The Corona pandemic poses great challenges for families and sometimes brings heavy burdens. A recently published BiB study indicates that contact restrictions and school closures have had a sometimes significant impact on the mental and psychological health, especially of children.

The panel discussion "Away with the watering can - What families really need in the Corona pandemic" will feature experts from science, society and politics. The focus will be on questions such as:

  • What challenges do the paths and measures in and out of the Corona pandemic bring for the living situations of families?
  • How do these differ for different groups?
  • What are the needs for support?
  • How should the support programmes set up by the federal government so far for the different groups be assessed?

The deputy chairperson of the Scientific Advisory Council for Family Affairs at the BMFSFJ and BiB director Prof. C. Katharina Spieß will shed light on these topics in a keynote speech.
